Amtrak Adventure part II

We took a short ride to New Buffalo, MI. As we neared the platform, the conductor opened the door - while the train was still moving!! (Gilbert could hardly believe this). We passed some people and Gilbert turned and looked at me and said " I just saw gramma and grampa!- how did they know we were going to be here today?" Gilbert was so excited to see them. We enjoyed a treat at the coffee shop, before we headed to the best part of the day- a visit to the "I LOVE TOY TRAINS" store. They have everything there that a train loving kid could want. Gilbert scored some new gear, and grampa was so excited that I would not be surprised if the next time we visit he has an electric train set up in the basement. are we there yet? How did gramma nd Grampa know we would be here today?

I LOVE TOY TRAINS
After the store we went to Redamax for a burger and fries, then it was back on the train.

What a fun adventure.

First Amtrak Ride

Gilbert and I went on an adventure a couple weeks ago. We headed out early and went to Union Station to catch the Amtrak to Michigan. Gilbert got a conductors hat and was ready to help out the engineer and conductor in any way he could. Dressed and ready for work Talking with the Engineer to make sure we were staying on schedule.
Mapping out our journey.

Stay tuned for our next post to see the surprise waiting for us in Michigan!!

Chores

Now that Little Man is nearing 3 1/2 we thought we would introduce some chores. He's working on mastering making his bed. He does quite well, and I didn't do any of the teaching, it was all PJ. And might I add- PJ does a bang up job making our bed each and every morning too!!

Green Eggs and Ham

It's a St. Patrick's Day tradition at our home to have Green Eggs and Ham on St. Patty's day. I had to catch the train before they were done cooking, but I snapped these pics before I left.

It is also a tradition to have green beer at our house too. (PJ do you think you could pick some up between basketball games?:-)

I hear something.....

I glance at the clock- it's 5:15 am- do I hear something in the kitchen or am I just 1/2 asleep? More noises, I guess I should get up to check- I don't see anything in the kitchen, but still hear something as I round the corner I find this.....

me: Gilbert do you realize it is 5 in the morning?

Gilbert: But mom I am SOO hungry.

me: A bowl and a cup of cheerios?

Gilbert: The bowl is for me, the cup is for my dragon.

me: Oh I see, I am going back to bed.

Gilbert: Ok.

The Spice Shop

Saturday morning we met our good friends Tony and Vanessa and their 2 kids Maddie and Jake out for breakfast in our neighborhood (no good photos of the kids to post) afterward we decided to jump on the El to Oak Park for a quick visit to the Penzey's Spice Shop. Gilbert loved his train ride and Patrick was happy to get the pantry re stocked.

Happy as can be on the Train

Does Gilbert look guilty to you???

Pulaski Day

If you live in Chicago, you know that school was closed on Monday for Casimir Pulaski Day. So we rounded up our firends E and K and headed to the Museum if Science and Indsutry. A good time was had by all. I never knew you could see all of the exhibits, have a snack and lunch in 3 hours- but the the kids managed to do just that.

Gilbert was making snow angels this morning, I thought it was so cute until he informed that it was "REALLY" dirty under the bookcase and I should clean better! Ugh.
